A New Look

Fredericksburg Art Guild Has a New Look

Just in time for our 50th Anniversary, the Fredericksburg Art Guild has updated its webpage as it starts its next 50 years, God willing, of serving the artists and community in Fredericksburg, Texas and the Texas Hill Country.

The Guild was founded in 1971 by world-famous artist John McClusky. What started as art lessons above a local store became a place for local artists to not only learn to paint but also a place to display and sell their art.

Located just across the street from the Nimitz Museum of the Pacific War, the Guild is a 501(c) (3) non-profit organization whose “mission is to educate educate, encourage, promote, and cultivate the creation of fine arts throughout the Texas Hill Country”.

I became a member last year just in time to close down for COVID. Like many small businesses and organizations, we closed our doors for a time but, thankfully, we’ve been slowly and carefully getting back into “business” and our doors are open again. The current hours are noon till 4:00 PM on Friday through Sunday.  In March get back to our pre-COVID days of Thursday through Sunday. Woot woot!

We’ve been fortunate to have Kristine Ziems as our webmaster and the person responsible for our new look. The new website not only tells our story but also introduces patrons to our artists and their work.

If God forbid, we’re shut down for whatever reason again art enthusiasts can go online and see the current artists and their work. Kristine has added a gallery page showing current art at the guild and is also offering our members pages to display more art.

Please take some time to go to the new website at https://www.fredericksburgartguild.com/ and give it a look. And if you make it to Fredericksburg come on by and spend some time with us.

Oh, and if you’re interested in art lessons Nan Henke offers watercolor classes each month. Make sure you go to the Calendar and Event Page and see when she’s holding her next class. You’ll also find the dates of our future shows and First Friday Art Walks.

Now…go make some art!
